Mama, have you been taking care of yourself? I know I haven’t and then came the reality check/wake-up call!! What happened you asked? I got sick, well sort of not the typical cold or anything like that, I was in extreme pain. My whole left arm, left side of my upper back, and neck were in extreme pain, I couldn’t even move!! I was in bed all day and couldn’t find a position to be comfortable in and couldn’t sleep through several nights. In fact, I still unwillingly wake up too early. It turned out I have something called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Never heard of it? Neither have I, until I was told I had it. Apparently, it has to do with the group of nerves that are connected in those parts of my body. I’m currently seeing a chiropractor and we’re hoping to see improvement.
I know it’s partially my fault since my left arm has been going numb off and on throughout the day for months, but I didn’t see any doctor for it, since we didn’t have the money to do so. Then the stress, I have been going through enormous amounts of stress everyday and it’s taken a toll on my body. The week before I was in all of this pain, my back was so tense because of all the stress building up in my body to the point of this pain. This kind of thing apparently happens to those who were in car accidents or very bad injuries and I know neither have happened, but I know that stress can wreak havoc on the body and it did on mine.
If you have been like me and haven’t been taking care of yourself because as we know that our kids come first and then comes everyone else before us, but if we continue to put everyone first and not take care of ourselves then we’re setting ourselves up for sicknesses or worse. I’m not saying to not put your kids first, but don’t do everything for everyone and neglect yourself. If you’re experiencing some kind of pain or discomfort, try at home remedies, if those don’t work and its something that’s not going away get checked out by a Chiropractor or Holistic medical professional. You DON’T want to end up in extreme pain or other problems that could have been avoided in the first place. If you’re under a lot of stress then calm down, relax, and find out what works best for you. Don’t let your health get out of control. Remember, if mama’s in pain/sick then she can’t take care of anyone, including herself. I’m giving you permission to go and take care of yourself!!
Have you had your own wake up call/reality check? How do you take care of yourself?
