When it comes to shopping, we all have to do it. Whether it is grocery shopping, shopping for new clothes, shopping for a new phone, etc. it has to get done. There are those of us who love to shop around and those that do it because it needs to get done. When I was a teen, I loved to shop around and see what the stores have to offer, but now as a mom of 2 who has kids with her 24/7, the thought of me taking the kids shopping with me scares me. If I take them with me, they’ll always want something and we’ll have to spend wayyyyy more money than intended. Shopping online is much easier for me now and when I physically go shopping (once in a blue moon) I run through the store searching for whatever it is that I am looking for (my husband can’t even catch up LOL). But there are certain situations that arise that cause me to physically go inside of the store, like the one recently.
My son’s First Holy Communion is this Sunday and it was Tuesday that we realized that we did not have any white dress shoes for him. Talk about last minute realizations. I knew I had to bring my son in with me, especially since I wasn’t too sure about his shoe size, but I didn’t want to go to 5 or more stores searching for them. That’s when I decided to use this one simple, yet effective trick. I called the stores near me to see if they carried any white dress shoes for boys. Unfortunately, almost every store told me no they only have black, except for two stores. I knew the more expensive choice was the religious store, I decided to go with the cheaper store first, but when I went there the following day, I saw none. We still saved a lot of time by just going to two stores, the first one we went in and out and the second one was the religious store, where we bought the shoes.
When you want to save time shopping, especially for a specific item and don’t know which store to go to, the best idea is to call to make sure they have the item in stock and even know their prices ahead of time. It’s making a more informed choice and might save you time and money. Next time you need to make a quick stop at a store, make sure you first give them a call!!
Have you ever called stores to make sure they had an item in stock and/or for the store’s price? Is there another trick that you use to save time and money when searching stores for a specific item?
